My New '71 Lemans
Picked this '71 Lemans Post over the weekend. Had been searching for a nice '71 or '72 for a while now. Nothing too special but appears to be a nice driver car. Not perfect but my son and I will have fun with it! 350 2bbl, Auto, PS, manual brakes, bench seat, am/fm radio, vinyl top. Really digging the Castillian Bronze/vinyl top colors! Haven't been able to mess with it too much yet. Will get some nicer pictures when the weather is better. Been cold here in Milwaukee!

I parted a '71 LeMans Sport 20 years ago that was Castillian Bronze with Sandalwood interior...had a vinyl top too, but I don't remember if it was Sandalwood or Black (it was gone by the time I got the car).

Thanks everyone for the kind words! I wasn't too sure about the color combo at first but the more I looked at it the more started to really like it. It hasn't been restored but it's been repainted at some point. I believe the interior to be mostly original and in great shape. The kid who owned it before me swapped the 2bbl for a 4bbl and installed a comp cam in it. Car sounds nice! Haven't been able to drive it really at all to see how snappy it is.
One thing about this car is the manual drum brakes. Never had those before on a car. They seem like you really have to put some foot in them to slow down the car. I think at some point I will update to powered and possibly a front disc conversion. |

My 69 came to me with manual brakes, front disc/rear drum. It stops just fine. Like you, I was thinking about putting the power booster on it when I got it. The more I drove it the more I got used to it and stayed with the manuals. I also like the extra room under the hood. Adding front discs might be a good idea though.
