A few pics of my cruiser just before I sold it 10 yrs ago. At the time I thought it was too nice to make a race car out of... talk about take back moments...It could have made a great race car and I'd be done building by now...damn. |

Since the 11 degree heads arrived here we had planned to offer a CNC package complete ready to bolt on. We are still on that track. We plan to use Reher-Morrison to accomplish the CNC work. In addition these ports/chambers were developed in consultation with Darin Morgan.
Targets: Flexible design allowing use on CID ranges 440 – 541 2.300” – 2.350” intake dia; 1.650” – 1.680” exhaust dia 300ft/sec through intakes at .600” lift with 2.300” valve with minimal velocity gradient Small, fast burn, efficient chamber (approximately 50ccs) Intake port size and location allow use of cast intake manifold; Victor, BOP and Tiger. 3.20 sq inches minimum but with additional porting can reach 3.60 sq inches. Shaft rockers with approximately .600” - .700” offset on intakes Short valve length for minimum weight (stainless or Ti valves) History: We delivered a roughed out intake and exhaust port to Darin back in January ‘12. He liked the intake but worked a few hours on my exhaust. Chambers are right at 50ccs. He used a 2.300” intake, machined 45 degree seats and reported some very nice flow figures. We made the decision to go final and trace them. He called me a few days later and said that he had discovered a problem with the bench so the numbers were off by a few percent but did not have any new flow numbers. The heads were in line for tracing and he would flow them after they came off machine…and we would need to develop a different exhaust port for the end ports. Well…time went by and finally Norwalk ‘12 was here but not the heads so one of our crew picked them up on his way so we could show the progress. They were unboxed in Lenders lot on that Wednesday. When we got back here I worked on the end exhaust port and then returned them to Darin for tracing and cutting…they are still there. He told me a few days ago the CNC machine is down. No need to post flow numbers we have to make excuses for later. Manifolds: Head velocity is excellent and will support use of larger manifolds namely BOP or Tiger intakes. Both are great options with a good beginning runner area and plenum volumes for higher RPM/larger cubic inch applications. Also we wanted to maximize manifold choices so the port size/shape is within the Victor casting (might have to weld the bolt recess on the end ports) and possibly the Northwind casting (but do not have one to try at this point.) Tiger will require milling of manifold and head but it will be a great choice. Pricing: Working on pricing and we will be very competitive with other offerings. Availability: Working on ‘em… A very nice build is in progress with these and will post as info is available. |

Some progress...at least they are back in our hands for the next phase.
If you read some of my earlier posts we ran into an issue where the end exhaust ports required a totally different port than the center exhaust ports. Now a standard o port header flange will line up nicely even though Edelbrock moved the valve centerlines. |

John M, The divider wall in the intake port is progressively thicker as you move closer to the head bolt. We will mill the intake flange on the head approximately .500" (I believe you milled yours also) and thus we will end up with about .160" of divider wall thickness. We will run the Tiger intake with this set...plus we are looking at milling about .250" from the flange of the manifold for proper fit. And yes we were thin at the spark plug access hole on the end ports so we added some material before tracing to allow adequate thickness in the cnc ports. Test port was then welded and smoothed. Looking at exhaust flange thickness at the roof of the exit for some possible material add there.
John K, How goes it? No structural issues with these. Darin has studied and measured these and gave the thumbs up so we went forward. Looking forward to seeing your Lemans out and about... |

Can some one explain what Manifold is "SUPPOSED" to fit the Pro port, untouched? Is it a Victor ?? .500 off the head and another .250 off the intake is a lot. Anyone know if Edelbrock is working on a Manifold for these heads. As I type this I remember the thick plates I had to use back in the day so the victor would fit the Tigers -- I dont remember how thick it was though -

In post #4 and #388 I show a mock up of a Victor intake on the pro ports on an IAII block. The bolt holes line up nicely. Thus the reason we tried to keep our ports within the casting of the Victor. The BOP will also "fit" between the heads and bolt holes will line up (depending on the bolt hole option you get from Wade). When attempting to test fit the Tiger intake to these heads, the Tiger runners are longer resulting in a different flange position. Basically the Tiger intake fits the Tiger heads. We found about .750" will need to be removed from Pro ports, Tiger intake or a combination of both. Since the Pro ports have a massive flange we chose to mill most of the difference from the there. The flange on the Tiger intake is approximately .450" thick so removing .200" or so is no big deal. We studied both the BOP and the Tiger intakes and for this set we chose the Tiger.
