50lbs??, Only if the pump made of lead. Closer to 15lbs.

John, it looks like you use some weight on the front anyhow.

Add the weight of external pump, mounts, hoses, tank and some extra oil.

Subtract weight of internal pump, pump driveshaft. Also subtract weight of accumulator if so equipped.

Maybe I misread John's statement but I read it as:

If you run a Dry Sump system then the racing org tacks on 5% times the engine CID or 28 pounds of carry weight plus the weight of the actual components and oil so assuming 20 pounds for that = 50 pounds. And about 20 pounds of that is in front of the engine.

I used the lighter cloth braided hose, crimped alum fittings. My dry pan had less baffles in it and was pretty much a box shape. I was able to run a little less oil because the tank is tall and cylindrical. Many of dry sump pumps these days have manifold on scavenge out, which eliminates several hoses and fittings.

I did figure the best case as far as weight goes. And yes whatever weight will a little forward, about a foot?

Not trying to argue with anyone, just think the decision should be thought out with a thorough understanding. A 50lb weight penalty that's adds to decision!

That class has more rules that the Betty Crocker cook off -- for most guys the 20 some pounds is a cheap price to pay for some engine Insurance.

That 6.0 tag is an accomplishment by itself. Not easy to obtain first time through tech. Congratulations on that step. Not to mention the coolest engine package ever. Getting close.
