It's pretty simple- they offer a race ready proven crate engine. They also do allot of high end Ferrari and Lambo engines as well.

And when you say who cares-- their end user cold say who cares about "XYZ"-- (insert your favorite Pontiac engine builder there).
Still, do they make more proven, reliable power than a big aftermarket Chevy, Ford or Hemi ? Is it just another flavor of the same, in the end horsepower ?
Or is there some advantage, cost per HP ?

Check out AJPE he should be somewhere in your area.

The 481X is BBC based, but it is a billet block, billet head combo rated up to 5,000HP. It has become the go-to engine for a lot of racers because of the availability of parts, and price. It is probably the most mass produced billet engine out there.

I would have put a Pontiac in it too. Try to buy or build a 5000hp capable unit? Time, spare parts, and reliability won’t be on your side.

Guys! I love the Pontiac engine too. But you can’t do what you can with a 481X to this level simply because of the size limitations. My 572 is 4.5X4.5 with free flowing heads built for that size of bore (no one, not even Bill or whoever is your favorite, can build a head that can match because of the space constraints in the physical size of the block and bore, period!) so if you are ever on a sticky track you will get pulled on the top , period. And yes, billet components are on the shelf with at least 3 suppliers so you can keep racing when you break, and 4500hp will hurt parts no matter how good you are. If it’s a slick track everyone has a shot!

As for the BBC and Hemi discussion, a 481X is a stand alone specifically designed race engine. It’s no brand of engine other than AJPE.

Thank you very much for that. I wanted to know what it was based on, its origin.
I like to talk engines and would rather ask the fine folks here than just do a internet search.

While you were doing internet searches and posting about them I made it to the finals in Super Pro today, again.
And I would rather ask someone who knows more than me on subjects I am looking to learn about. People over computers, well most of the time.

"stretch" is putting it mildly. Half truth at best. P Dude and Rusty might say otherwise.
And they plain just cost more by the time you are done. Well, if you have to pay for the top end I guess.

What ever you need to tell yourself to feel good about yourself.

But anyone who has read this thread knows you showed (as normal) your lack of knowledge on just another subject.

I did actually try to help you. Like the old story abut giving a man a fish or teaching him how to fish. But you were just like that horse. While I am sure you do not understand any of this others will.

It’s ok, some people like apples some like oranges.

Some like Trump and some have mental disorders.

In the end it all works out.

If you took runner up in s/pro without a delay box only tells me you’re racing against amateurs!! LOL! You wouldn’t last 2 rounds at milan. Just saying.
