Dont get me wrong, I wish them the best! Just been down this road and know it can be tough...
If they can get the 60' sub 1.0, they have a shot at low 6's... that's 30's or less. In my opinion..
Scott,
With the computer it is easy to make adjustments to 60 foot times / max G's acceleration. What would you think a good max G's acceleration would be for this type vehicle? For my 6.44 et simulation it works out to 2.63 G's.

60 Foot ET = 1.2022
330 Foot ET = 3.1697
1/8 Mile ET = 4.8083
1/8 Mile MPH = 150.3887
1000 Foot ET = 6.2154
1/4 Mile ET = 7.4063
1/4 Mile MPH = 189.2569

2350# .3 cd frontal area 19 sq ft - improved traction

1/4 Mile MPH = 217.1396

I guess we will know in a few week how far over this is.

1.20 60’ time for a 7.40 ET...... he doesn’t have a turbo car! LOL! I’m running 1.14-17 in my car!

GTOGeorge,
You do understand the better the 60 foot time on the 7.4 run the less HP it shows / takes for that run. So when I reduce the weight the 6.44 run will be slower because I will be using less HP for that simulation.

Another gizmo shows -

3450 lbs @ 7.40 = 1683 horses
2350 lbs @ 6.51 = 1683 horses

2350 lbs @ 5.98 = 2172 horses

= 489 more horses needed in the stable

thats just RawData - no account for better aero , traction/downforce , etc...
but still gonna need a lil more boost under the magic hat to break into 5.9's

Really neat looking new car! Great idea using a proven engine combination in a new chassis.

Best of luck to you, we need all the fast Pontiacs we can get! There just aren't enough of us.

Driving a funny car is a lot different than driving a door car. There will be a learning curve there.

Actually he only ran a high 7.47 I think with an under 1.20 60' time.
So what would one of your simulations be with my car?

GTOGeorge,
I had an old sim I had done about 3 years ago. I had to make a few changes to it as some data like the weight based on your signature I had was wrong.

60 Foot ET = 1.1556
330 Foot ET = 3.2795
1/8 Mile ET = 5.0854
1/8 Mile MPH = 136.8021
1000 Foot ET = 6.6549
1/4 Mile ET = 7.9935
1/4 Mile MPH = 169.0700

I know a guy that ran a glide in a funny... it let loose on the launch and a piece if it took a chunk of a crew members leg off... somehow the driver didnt get hurt...
I know people do it but the belhousing is where your feet basically rest in those cars..
I would personally never do it. I hope he is taking all the safety measures he can.. jmo.

In my post I typed its the SAME trans that has lived in his 3,400 lbs 7.40 GTO, it should live. He has been racing his 3,400+ lb. 7 sec. car for a while now. Me...I like a 3 speed.

Yep, your feet and lower legs straddle the bellhousing in a funny car. Our car has a steel bellhousing with a liner. Probably weighs 70-75 Lbs. The clutch is another 50+ lbs inside. Would love to have all titanium in that area. Not in our budget and we pay a big weight penalty for all that steel. I would certainly think this car has some sort of ultra-case for the trans and the best of everything inside. Then possibly a ballistic blanket over the entire deal. Hopefully, everyone will be safe, clutch or auto.

We ran the same type bell in ours.. the titanium bell was crazy exspensive.. even an ultra case on a glide is no where near as thick or safe as a lenco with a steel bell...
I would never do it..dont care if it was behind the same engine or not...not in a funny...
I was going to run a $7k glide until I started talking to smarter people then me ( not hard to find) .. trans companies and racers.... ended up spending the extra for the lenco... also went from a 2 to a 3 spead as the there was way too much drop in rpm from first to second...motor didnt like it..with the Lenco you just bolt another gear on between 2nd and the reverser...
Wish them the best and hope it works for them especially from a safety stand point. It's a dangerous sport and safety is not somewhere to cut corners...

That’s why ALL of us experience racers running quick cars follow the NHRA safety rules and then some.

George: do you know if that car will be in the Kauffman tent at Norwalk or out in the pits?
