I'm impulsive. Like when someone does something stupid and then brags about it on the web and I see it and call them on it...(and then a bunch of other folks chime in ...fun stuff[/QUOTE]
I call it being a trouble maker!

I use Rock Auto occasionally, and for the most part it's okay. But when you are searching for older stuff, their parts listing accuracy starts to deteriorate. I bought a rear pinion seal for my stock GTO from them, and it took a while for me to get to the job. When I tried to fit it, it wasn't even close. I did detective work and found that it was for a Chevrolet rear axle pinion. Rock Auto's part listing for a Pontiac was wrong. I called to return it (yea I know it's less than 10 dollars, but I called) and they would NOT accept it as a return since it was over 30 days. I explained that they list a chevy part for a Pontiac, but the person could not have cared less about their wrong listing.
I suspect that alot of the parts suppliers, online and brick and mortar rely upon 3rd party databases. Over the years these databases get modified and changed with the times, and updated to current parts availability. Errors accumulate, and all the suppliers are susceptible to these errors. Bummer for us "old car" owners. So you have to still be your own advocate and check what you buy! So I was steamed over the principle of the situation, but I moved on and get parts from RA once in a while when they are the best deal. Definitely not loyal to them though.

I try to get a P/N for what I'm needing then search eBay, Amazon, and online in general for the best price after tax and shipping. If none of those places has what I need, then I'll go to a speciality supplier like Firebird Central, Ames, or The Parts Place.
Anything I can get from Rock Auto I can get from my local CarQuest or O'Reilly. So in short, I think I have ordered from them maybe half a dozen times since they started years and years ago.

Are you in the US? If so, you have similar box retail auto parts stores I'd imagine within a 50 miles drive.

I bought a set of drilled and slotted rotors for the front of my Tempest a while back. I looked them up for a 70 GTO because that’s what my CPP kit is based on. They sent me two right side rotors so I emailed them and told them and told them I wasn’t eating the return shipping either. I got a reply back that they needed a picture of the rotors side by side to confirm they were indeed the same. In TINY print at the bottom of the email was a phone number. I called and got customer service. I explained the situation and told them I wasn’t stupid I knew what direction the slots were supposed to face and two days later I got a brand new matched set of rotors. So now I have a spare left rotor. Will only have to buy the right when it comes time to replace

To get back to the original post, I ordered from Rock Auto the other day for the first time, all because this thread had me thinking about them. I ordered brake pads for my expedition. Said delivery was for today (Friday). I got home from work yesterday and the box was sitting on my front porch. SO, after 1 transaction I am a satisfied customer.
Although, I didn't get one of their 'fridge magnets , plus I think RA owes MA a commission on the sale for bringing this up in the first place

I agree with Mr.TAKerry ! , I have used RA in the past for a few items on the GTO, their prices are fairly descent although at the end of the day shipping sort of ate the difference. Which reminds me... I didn't get a fridge magnet either and MA will more than likely not be seeing any commissions from this thread .All in all though, a good experience with RA and I would recommend them in the future. I usually use Amazon, for about everything. I get free shipping usually next day or 2nd day.
You would have to know what you want sometimes though, no hand holding usually. But if you have your vehicle (that you want stuff for) in their 'Garage' I think it's called, it'll usually tell you if the part is compatible with it. I have used Rock Auto a few times when I didn't find something on Amazon, no problems I can think of, other not real quick. (compared to Amazon)

Not to be argumentative, but Pitt is at least 5 hrs from you. I believe your about 45 min to 1 hr NE of me, and it takes me about 5 to get to Pitt. I travelled back and forth for a couple months for work a year or so ago.
