Visner recommended cross bolt mains on a Pontiac over 2,500 hp but would make one without. It was a couple grand difference.

hell the way the world is turning currently......steel anything will be obsolete soon. I can't wait to see a titanium crankshaft!!!
While I can appreciate the machining and certainly know whats involved with the programming stuff too, I would be more impressed if i saw some old dude standing beside a Bridgeport knee high in chips.

A YEAR OR MORE TO GET THE PART. CNC means quick delivery. CNC means the guy writing the program knew what he was doing prior to turning the CNC machine on. CNC means holding good tolerances but not necessarily tolerances to within .0002" on the crankshaft. Most would not have the patience to go down that path. There is a place for steady and slow vs CNC quick and still very good in some cases. When NASCAR was young, Mr Bob Gillian and his 20 guys grinding crankshafts after they were forged by Kellogg was the way to go. Joe Flowers is a 3 man shop. Tom V.

I USUALLY remember correctly, but it takes 3 times as long to get the info out of my brain.
Now if you took the aero out of the required equation and the loss thru the tire driving the typical dual rolls or 67 inch single drum type dynos, that 5500 number might change a bit upward. Example: no aero, no tire, hub dyno, who can say what the number actually is on the track. Really just running a pre-dragstrip Tuning/ Durability test. Tom V.

That's all great and all but why would u make a billet block without all the current wiz bang stuff?
A) ur a dumbass farmer who's daddy funded u and is dumber than u are B) You don't know any better C) You don't know anything about making durable power.. D) all of the above... I'm going with D... |

Might be something as simple as the CNC machine they own cannot make a skirted block
with the model they have. (Not enough travel) or it might be exactly like you posted.) Not going there. Tom V.

It's just an opinion George. So what's urs on the deal? There are available blocks now that can handle current power levels to 3k or so for probably 1/3 the cost..what's the advantage of that block?

Just a racer that moved on, just like Eric and Mike have done with their Funny Car. Having never driven/owned a Pontiac Funny car I would not be throwing rocks about being a non-racer. Tom V. If the Pontiac guy Mike is building the road race car and engine for goes into that field of racing, is he suddenly a NON-RACER and knows nothing about DRAG RACING. Interesting.

Touched a nerve huh? I'm just curious why you posted such a crappy post about the Kauffman guys.
