Like previously mentioned, i cut some squares out of an old semi tire sidewall. Not bolted down at all. That's for the house garage's 60 gal upright. My homebrew 60 gal in the shop is sitting on a piece of OSB, 3/.4 thick. Both have zero floor vibration. I do like the idea of putting casters on them, I have everything else on wheels, my compressor is about the only thing that isn't, and I see no downside to doing it.

wonder if the pallet guys left it on because they couldn't lift it off? lol check out the picture, I had to go it alone out here at my age and used redneck technology to get it off the dreaded "pallet mount".

my engine hoist would not go high enough to center the chain. the compressor wanted to really swing out even lifting a little. so being alone I strapped it to my truck hitch, and the other strap to the wall. worked perfect. came straight up just enough to kick the "shipping pallet only" out from under it and take it to the burn pile.


(please notice the 12 bolt posi marks in the shop. I love the smell of burning rubber in the morning. smells like victory!)

On a couple of occasions I was very happy my compressor is on wheels. Like when parts roll behind it, or belts need adjusting. etc.
I even have my 2500 lb Bridgeport on wheels

Got it wired up with 6 gauge and 40 amp breaker today.

runs great no surprises and is it ever quiet running. quieter than I even expected. the whisper system is pretty darn neat.

must have a ram air V oil pump. nice steady 50 psi

NOPE! I have a fork lift, so taking it off would have been a simple process. Your pallet is definitely a shipping pallet & I would not have left mine on that either. The pallet mine is still on after 20+ years is much smaller & lower to the ground using stronger boards. Sorry no pictures.

Both of my big compressors are still on the pallets - one from 30+ years ago when my dad bought it!

used the excess horse mat for my bench top. iv'e always used this stuff for the bench tops. can cut various pieces for block sanding to.

emax use's 2 belts for less tension on the pullys, low rpm motor.

The reason mostly hinges on the pallet rotting, and the upright compressor falls over, they also site noise amplification on concrete. Since I bought my current home with 2 compressors left on the premises, I have one shop area with a wooden floor that has the compressor sitting on the wooden floor. It's been in there for at least a decade. The one at my old house has been sitting on the shipping pallet since i bought it new around 2006. The pallet hasn't rotted yet.
