Ken, that Ventura has so much potential to do almost anything with it. It should have the std. 2.73 rear gear (JA open/JM limited slip) with the 350 2-bbl and AC with the M38 (TH350). I'd personally leave the 2.73 and add a posi unit. The 3.08 was optional, however, the 2.73 gear would be great behind a 455, or 400 based stroker 461, even a lowly 400 (lol), and keep the rev's down on the highway.

In the meantime, have fun cleaning/fixing while you figure out the next steps in the great adventure of your first Pontiac. I'm looking forward to the progress on your son's Ventura!

I haven't even checked the rear end code yet. I assumed 3.08 was standard, but it's probably got the 2.73 since nothing was specified on the PHS.

Most of the parts I ordered got here today. I made really long todo list for him to chip away at in class and after school. He's going to be gainfully occupied for a while.

The newest tire on this thing was dated from '07 so they have to go. We're going to run my original RIIs off my '68 in the interim while we decide on wheels and tires. The RIIs currently have redlines mounted on them so I can't wait to see what they look like against that lime green. It might be incentive for him to get his own wheels and tires!

The guys in his shop class seem to think this car is going to get him some girls. It would have been a repellant back in my High School days!

You must have looking at this vehicle for a while. Things like the swatches and parts came much quicker than if I was ordering them.

I ordered the swatches last week when we were considering the car since my wife and son were drawn to interior. I’m honestly surprised they sent them out so quick considering what I’ve heard about SMS in the past.

I ordered the rest of the stuff on Sunday and Monday based on what I saw when we looked the car over. Summit usually gets the stuff out pretty quick. If it’s in their Reno warehouse I’ve ordered stuff in the afternoon and had it here the following morning. Rock Auto usually takes a few days to a week.

I've mostly been posting updates in the "What did you do with your Pontiac" thread. We did a ton of work on it leading up to our roadtrip to Arizona for the Duct Tape Drags last Fall. It's been his daily driver since and hasn't really needed much.
