A "sportsman" block that weighs the same as a IA2 ? I do not think they would sell, not appealing at all.
A block that is maybe 10-15 lbs heavier than a 4 bolt 400 block with a little extra iron in the right places and looks OEM would sell for 2500 $ IMO.
But a true race block like Paul mentioned for the guys who can afford a high end race build would be sweet.

Dad went with an iron MR1 block years ago, and he's still happy with that decision, but even back then it was a $3000 decision plus all the machine work needed to put it in service.

Now in todays market with the way things are, trying to bring a new product like that to market is not going to be cheap. When good quality new heads are $3000 and up I can't see blocks being any cheaper, and as Pontiac people seem to do, they are already bulking at the projected head price from DCI. So I don't see a block as being a big seller. We've already had aftermarket blocks for many years and I still only see maybe 2 or 3 out of the Pontiac crowd at the big gatherings around here. Even at the digs they aren't prevalent.

They just aren't something that's used much in the street/strip crowd where most of the Pontiac market is. The Pontiac race community is a small bunch.
