Brings back the fun I had when I was the caretaker of Dan's 69 Firebird 350HO 4 spd.
Dennis its been about 12 or 13 years now that I have seen you or Dan since we were racing in your guys race. When I owned the Firebird I had only owned it for 1 month before I raced it there. I ran a 14.30 and it still had the original spark plug wires on it.
The HO's were as strong as the 400's all day long.
If I remember correctly when we were eating one night Jeff Sawruk enlightened me on those motors. He was very aware of them since his dad John was one of the engineers at Pontiac at that time. He told me that all 69 Pontiacs that came with a 350 4bbl were HO cars. I told him I have never seen a Tempest with a HO motor and he said really? I have owned 3 of them. At that point I was hooked on that year and motor.
I remember showing Dan on my phone the ad on E-bay of the 69 Firebird he now has while we were at the Buick Nationals in Bowling Green Ky and told him I was going to bid on it. Well it did'nt meet reserve but i ended up buying it and now Dan has it. Small world.
Anyway Dennis after having some other cars for a while I am now with one I have always wanted. A 70.5 Formula 4speed non Ram air no a/c no p/s vinyl top car. Talk about a millennial theft deterrent.
Maybe I will bring it up next year to the race and would like to see the 4 door as well.

Hi Don! Good to see you posting on PY again! Love that new ‘70 Formula you just acquired too! That’s what I love about Formula Firebirds, you see some really interesting color & option combinations. Sandlewood top over Castilian Bronze looks great, especially with the sandlewood interior. Nicely optioned with the WT 400 with the #12 heads, M20 4-speed and 3.55 STT 12-bolt rear end. That combo can run with the RAIII TA’s since they may be 100 lbs. lighter if similarly equipped…and yours doesn’t have PS, so an extra 30 lbs. off the front end. I hope to have my ’70 Formula at next year’s Pure Stock Drags for a couple TT passes on Friday, like I did with my Custom S this year. I’m looking forward to more posts about your Formy over on the 70-73 Firebird & TA Tech forums.

Dan really enjoys the ’69 350 HO Firebird. It is a really nice driving car as well as quick and good looking.
