I'm late on this but Sunday I dragged my SD to the track and ran a local Muscle Car Challenge race. I was late reporting to the lanes for first round and ended up with a by-run because they already did the car count (I'm guessing). That seemed to get the hardcore bracket racers worked up ..... I thought it was a good strategy.

After I got my new starter in I noticed my Auto Zone battery was 9 years old but still working.Did a load test and it showed week so off to Auto Zone to replace it.All should be good now to go to the Seal Beach car show on the 26.Just have to fluff up the 62 GP to go along with the 63 Lemans!Tom

Spent another day in the junkyard. Robbed all the turn signal parts i could get off a complete 62 tempest.
Forgot to get the dip stick and some carb parts, This 4 banger will shake an break everything.

Pulled my convertibles out for some more garage cleaning.

Knocked a driveshaft together in anticipation of the 8.5 rear end swap. Had an already 1” shortened driveshaft stashed leftover from my Tempest when it had a TH400. Knocked in some new U-joints and switched the yoke to a TH350 unit.

Looked at my ‘57 VW project that hasn’t had the cover off for many months, fiddled with it and thought about finishing it……

Picked up some vintage Centerlines for the VW and polished them up.

We were on vacation up in Oregon last week and I found this old windbreaker in an antique store with patches that were hand sewn on. The "racing team" and checkered flag patches are a little cheesy, but Firebird and GTO and Laguna Seca patches are cool. I thought it would be cool to hang in the Goat at car shows.

I replaced the motor mounts on my 67 with the torq lock drone Ames. The Korean Anchor mounts were tired and driver side was coming apart.

Worked on the rear passenger disc brake on the T/A yesterday. For several months now, I've noticed a worsening rattling/clunking noise from that specific area while cruising at low speeds under throttle as well as during braking. Checked the caliper and noticed both the inboard and outboard pads had a lot of radial side to side movement, which was the source of the sound. Also checked the driver rear side and both pads in that caliper are secured snugly like they should be.

Installed new pads, including cinching the ears on the outboard pad to keep it tightly secured, as indicated in the service manual. The inboard pad had the round anti-rattle spring clip that slips around the piston already, but a quick adjustment of the e-brake mechanism helped tighten it up. I use my e-brake every time I park the car since it's a 4-speed, so the adjustment on it was already pretty good and was was well-adjusted to the old pads with more wear, since I did have to compress the piston a bit to put in the new pads. Both new pads are solidly secured in the caliper now and the rattling/clunking sound is gone.
