Spent Easter cleaning up the wiring for the Retro Radio in the Ventura. We originally ordered their Daytona radio last month because it said it fit a Nova. Not so much. Fortunately they have great customer service and sent us the right faceplate at no charge. Their modular radios make it pretty easy to fit anything. Nothing fancy on the speaker setup - a 4x10 speaker up front in the dash and surface mount speakers on the floor in the back - but it sounds pretty good!

While we were in the Portland area a couple weeks ago, I tried to pin SMS down on the headliner material we ordered back in January. I offered to show up and pick up the material but got the run around. They said they're having trouble with their supplier and then needed time to make my order. I just ordered 2 yards of NOS material

I woke her up from the winter slumber today. Last year I put her away dirty. I meant to wash first but it was too cold and wet so I never got that done. So she'll get a bath later today.

This is the first start after priming the bowl with fuel and a couple squirts in the primaries.

I was late reporting to the lanes for first round and ended up with a by-run because they already did the car count (I'm guessing). That seemed to get the hardcore bracket racers worked up ..... First drive of the season today. Much later than normal but we had a really nice drive. Picked up some ground beef and ribeyes at the local butcher. Just had burgers for lunch and ribeyes tonight. Good times.

Got my flat tire fixed! Well, actually, the tire was replaced. The bead had a tear in it and wouldn't hold air. I just had them mounted in January, and the shop that mounted them covered the cost of a new tire because it was likely their equipment that damaged the bead when it was mounted.

All set for cruising again!

Decided to bite the bullet and drop the trans in the Ventura to fix the nasty leak from the front pump. The seal and the bushing were roached. We got the trans cleaned up and a new bushing, seal, o-ring, and gasket installed, but we need another couple hours to get it back in the car.

Prom is on Saturday and he wants pics with his girlfriend and the car (they got green accents to match), so we're going to thrash in the school shop tomorrow afternoon to try to get it back together. A little over a month until he graduates. I'm going to miss the shop nights followed by burgers tradition we started.

This wasn't today, but I recently took my LeMans for a sunset cruise and took a couple neat pics.

So this is what I did today. (This is a picture from about I think 93 days ago.) It still looks like this today. I went to the garage and looked at it again. My respect (fear) of removing the coil springs to replace the control arms with new tubular ones and disk brakes keeps it looking this way. My seventy three year old body can't move fast enough to dodge flying coil springs anymore. Let alone sitting on cold concrete to do this kind of work.
So I did another task that needed doing, cleaned out my sand blasting cabinet.
I'll take another look at it tomorrow, in hopes of renewed confidence (no fear) to continue the conversion.

Junk yard again.. New old door latch, works great. Remembered to get the dipstick this time. The oil in that 62 looked like they just changed it.

I don't blame you one bit ..... By far my least favorite job. A buddy used band clamps to R&R his and said it worked great. I believe he got the idea from something Rocky Rotella had written about.

It rained up here yesterday in SJ / SF area cold and cloudy today. took the tempest for a short coffee drive thru Campbell neighborhoods.

3 bay garage with 2 having door access. Need dollies to get a car in the third bay. One car is in bay 3 over the winter so that I can get the truck inside the garage. Put the truck outside, moved Tempest number 1 to bay 1, Moved Tempest number 2 to bay 2 using the dollies. Took Tempest numberr two out for a good run to streatch it's legs.

Really hardly ever rains here, at least in So Cal the dry weather half of the state. So the song isn’t really too far from the truth.

But hitting local car shows without checking the weather forecast first, especially when living near the coast is a mistake I won’t make.
