Ive used cylax in the past and in my opinion Por 15 brush on manifold paint is a better product

Would love it if someone came out with stainless ones, not sure why no one has done that yet, makes total sense to me. Those things would fly off the shelves. The aluminum ones can't take even the slightest rock-shot.

I've used their manifold paint on a few cars, and I like it.

Thanks! I got very lucky with these ones, as they were virtually undamaged. Very little straightening had to be done.

The reproduction stuff is great that it's available at all, but it's definitely flimsy, and fitment isn't the greatest.

It's a custom mix, color matched to the Legendary door panels and seat covers. It looks spot on.

Any of you guys have experience getting reproduction sail panels to fit? The ones I have are from The Parts Place, and they are really fighting me. The most noticeable and worst part is where it fits around the rear window. They are a good 1/2" from sitting where they should, making them look like ass when looking thru the back window.

I would suggest light application with a heat gun to gently reshape, but I'm not sure how that might affect your pain finish on them.

That's what I'm planning on. Wish I fit them before they were painted, but oh well. I checked them against my crumbling, disgusting originals and they just fall right into place.

Just a note so you don’t buy another set from someone else. Most of these parts have one repop that they all sell. Get them to fit as best you can and keep looking for som originals. JMHO.

I'm having trouble with paint not sticking to interior panels. Upholstery shop has tried three times and finally said the plastic used for the panels will not accept any etching step to improve paint adhesion. Fortunately, the rub off only shows where the door pad is contacting the kick panel edge and rear quarter trim edge so it's only visible when you open the door. I guess I can live with it as opposed to replacing all the trim panels again. You can only take apart the interior so many times.

Here's the awful gap after having the panel in and out no less than 10 times. Looks like ass.

I'm pulling it out again, and painting the visible white sheet metal with some black paint to try and disguise the fact that these panels suck. I guess I'm on the hunt for good originals.

Just an idea;

Had you considered using something akin to butyl tape to hold the top of the panel in place?

Maybe even some heavy duty two sided tape?

Unless I am misinterpreting that image, it looks like the shape of the (inner) sail panel is wrong...

The shape is definitely not correct. I'll try shaping them with a heat gun, and possibly stuff some butyl tape behind them.

Apparently they're "show quality" lol

I'll continue to fight with them and see how they turn out.

Along with the rear window fitment sucking, the part of the panels that go under the steel headliner trim above the door glass is too wide to fit under the trim. I was able to cut some of the plastic out to allow the steel trim to overlap it correctly, but man these panels certainly make you work for everything.

These panels were virtually unobtainable for many years - making decent ones which were not dry rotted few and far between.
I have 2-1/2 sets in various condition (one set is from/for my car);
As I recall from collecting them, the 1974 panels were a one-year piece, I believe it had to do with the coat hook.

It's funny, I couldn't remember if this car had coat hooks so I ordered them. Turns out it doesn't have em lol

I have a set in my 71 that I believe are original as they fit great. I think I might pull them out of that car and put them in the 70.

The coat hooks for the early cars had the coat hooks up on the headliner;
(again if my memory serves me) They moved to the sail panel for 1974
