Key Points EV registrations fell by 41 percent in January 2026 compared to last year. Automakers and consumers alike have lost out on federal support for EV adoption. Tesla bucked the trend, seeing registrations for its vehicles rise.

Once road use taxes catch up with EVs, the perceived cost savings decrease even more. I don't care what anyone else spends their money on, just as long as I'm not told what I have to spend my money on. I was in the market for a pickup last year, everything has touch screens and automatic transmissions. I bought a C10 project and I'm finishing it up now, with just the things I want and nothing I don't. Much easier to justify spending money on a vehicle that will be close in value to what I'm into it for, than a rapidly depreciating asset like a new car. I'm kinda wishing I built a longbed truck now though.

Well, no offense to anyone, but let's also be clear that it's not the automakers that are forcing anything. It seems to me that the automakers are building EVs under duress.

2015 Global EV vehicle sales = 540,000
2025 Global EV vehicle sales= 20,700,000 Well I'm gonna go with more people want them today than in 2015. Car manufacturers think globally, not only the USA. Just like all businesses that see there's dollars to be had, there's more competition now so Tesla isn't getting most of the sales and the sales are spread out between many companies so it looks different on the yearly sales reports vs before.

I think one fit could be the post office fleet. Same route everyday, charge up same location. But still butt ugly. They could spice it up a little!

What happens when we get a new President from the party not currently in office. EVs will be back on. I mean every 4 years ( maybe 8 )we do a 180 as a nation on how we approach energy production. Must also suck for companies that produce autos, appliances, guns, food, etc. Got to be a better way. As a country we basically start over every 4-8 years. This is not a political statement just an observation.

A friend John in my dance club is safety officer for USPS. He does not agree. He said those box ey trucks they have 'millions' of them if one goes down they have parts. 2 stories he told me.1st a driver of a new EV truck got t boned at an intersection. Woman ran red light. Truck was totaled forget the cost. 2nd is kind of better,'rural' delivery driver in EV went across bridge. Bridge collapsed!!!!!! A mess to clean up. Driver never thought about weight of EV. Bridge I think was owners bridge soooooo! Also getting good mechanic s to be trained and work on them another headache. He was glad Trump won.
