IMO E-85 has its place and it's a very narrow one. I know a handful of guys that compared E-85 to racing gas at the dragstrip.... everyone went faster with race fuel. I know one professional builder that melted a piston while following advice from a popular E-85 carburetor builder tuning an engine on a dyno. The only reason he followed the advice was due to the engine being so far down on power compared to the race gas.

Default E85

Paul, thanks for your response and thanks to everyone for your input. I read this site all day.
I guess I’ll pass on the E85 stuff.
This winter I converted my front suspension to true double adjustable coil overs, not the large diameter adapter springs that put all the weight on bottom dog bone style bottom mount. I fabricated my own low mounts for my tubular control arms. Besides a little weight savings I don’t really expect a performance gain. I’m gonna attempt to send some pictures which will probably be upside down or sideways

I’ve went from pump gas to e85, while there has a been a slight gain, going from 9.42 to 9.38 NA at 3500 lbs,it’s the cost that has been the biggest gain, my mileage is also slightly down but it’s been a fun journey, I did a bunch of research and talked to the right people and built my own carbs over the years and the current E85 one also. My comp is like 13:1 and cranking psi of 205, being retired I would stick with what’s been working for you!!

Pigeon, is this a race only car?

If it is why go E85? Go to straight methanol.

Ethanol is a step up from gas, but methanol is a lot better and has more power too. If you're buying/adapting stuff for the E85 not much more work to make it methanol.
With the right setup it will make more power.
But you can't think like it is gasoline.

John knows. Methanol will pick your car up over the race gas. It’s makes a ton more torque. If I were you I would go with a dominator set up for alcohol over a 4150 style carb. As far as the transbrake picking the car up…. If your converter is set up right you won’t gain much of anything with a transbrake. It’s more fun but not necessarily faster. We have a car that runs E-85 and it did pick it up a little bit and was cheaper than race gas while running cooler.

Agree 10p% with methanol at your power level.
Way much power vs e85 on a buddy's 13.cr on his 440.
Last year was 95% or more consistently to vs e85 at any pumps here.
Plus smells better. Or less....

Default E85

Thanks
I feel a metal on metal travel limiter on the front suspension has to shock the back tires to abruptly.
After you spend all kind of money on double adjustable shocks to make everything articulate at a controlled rate it seems counter productive to then have metal on metal so I put that stiff little coil spring on the all thread. The travel is adjustable with the nylock nut and the bottom of the rod is mounted with rubber shock bushing to also help soften the same negative effect.
