The 'O76' is probably incorrect. Never an 'O' coded option I believe.
Probably an 'U' like U76 which was the windshield antenna option.

HA! Wow — I totally forgot I posted in here looking for code help. Everyone was incredibly helpful… 25 years ago.

Happy to report I still have the GTO, and it’s in relatively the exact same shape. The original motor was rebuilt after a bearing let go, and I added a cam and Ram Air manifolds, but otherwise kept everything pretty much stock. It still has the original engine, transmission, carb, rear end, etc.

What a great community this is. If some of you are still around, I’ll upload the build sheets. In the meantime, here’s the original Protect-O-Plate for sh*ts and giggles.

hahaha 25 years later. It was U76 WINDSHIELD ANTENNA - the old sheets were pretty beat up.

Was your Oshawa build sheet on standard paper like US models or more of a print out on Dot Matrix / continuous computer paper with the small holes on each side?

I found 2 under the back seat. Was on the DOT matrix paper, ya.

It does have the original engine. Bought it with 43,000 miles on it. I matched the vin when we pulled the engine in 2005. Original tranny, intake, carb as well. Have all the paperwork for maintenance going back to the point of sale.

ya POP says YU - def a typo. Its a YS block.

The POP says O and VVS report says C for some reason. (engine code)

That's the EUN (engine unit number what I call it).
Your POP says 0475581 which is correct so the engine code YD on it is wrong.

The 'c' is because the 1st zero is chipped and it looks like a partial zero or 'C'.

So on your engine it probably has the chipped zero.

Also on your POP which is Canadian, it has the engine code and the eun like the earlier year POP had. I think the US POP did not show it in 1970. (and on)

Which is why I thought it was a 400 2bbl, since a US made car would not have that info.

I thought that chipped zero happened around 1972? Anyway that would only be if you looked at the actual stamping, the records should show the EUN with a leading zero I would think.
