I am running a threaded block adapter. One I made, but Similar to Butlers.
https://butlerperformance.com/i-2445...tegory:1234743 -10AN lines to a dual remote filter housing behind pass headlight https://www.summitracing.com/parts/p...0aAkEsEALw_wcB then through a Derale cooler and back to motor https://www.summitracing.com/parts/der-15452 The Napa Gold 1515 filters that the remote housing uses have a bypass valve as well. I am just over 8L of oil total. Stock pan LOL. Seems to have been working well for many years. |

For the GTO I buy the Wix branded filters, for my daily drivers I buy the Lexus & Honda filters.

Stumbled across this post while looking for more HP5 filters, which appear not to be available any longer
![]() I liked the HP5 as it would clear my headers, and includes a screened bypass to keep the big chunks out in event of an issue. I run a plugged factory adapter with this filter, which helped save my butt a couple years ago when my windage tray broke loose. Rods were chewing up the tray, creating some metal artwork. This happened at Norwalk and of course could not hear the carnage over open headers and kept racing! Finally realized there was a problem when pump bypass was sticking open due to metal in the pump. Tore it down and found lots of crap in pump and filter- but put the engine back together with the same "looked like new" bearings, etc. Nothing of significance made it through the filter or screened bypass. I was sold. Maybe time to put my remote filter system back on...

HP5 is one of the best looking filters I have ever cut open and we have done a few different brands.

Yup.
They used to be. I don't know who they're sourcing them from now. Wix got bought-out by Mann + Hummel years ago. M+H is a "global" company, so the filters get made wherever they're cheapest this week. Many are made in the USA. Some are not. And you have to open the box to LOOK at the filter to find out where it's made. |
