Boy, do I feel like an idiot. I have looked at that chart before and never looked all the way to the right and noticed the column that mentioned Spark Delay Valve. That would have saved me a lot of hassle looking for one. Now I have to see if the chart I have has that column. But does confirm that I do not get it on my engine.

Same here lol. I just kept looking at the picture showing the delay valve. I bought an incorrect NOS one for what I believe is the applications that do use it. I definitely paid too much for it and now don’t need it.

I finally got around to pulling out my paperwork to look at the chart, and mine doesn't have that column for whether or not a spark delay valve was used. That is why I had never noticed it before.

DTB (Dealer Technical Bulletin) 73-T-21 and DTB 73-T-21A (chart is the same in the Craftsman Service News 1973- Number 2) list that column.

What stud or bolt etc is used on the intake manifold to mount the bracket? I am mocking it up and appears you need a spacer on the bolt at the intake maniold (all stock parts by the way for a 55 amp alternator)...

Yeah I have one but can't see style of stud in head. The stud must have some thick spacer/head on it as my bracket will not get down low enough without a considerable spacer etc on stud. And when mounting to alternator, rear strap also needs a spacer there as well which 1972 diagram does not show but others pointed out their car having. Photo of stud style used on head appreciated

It's the same stud (9798854) as the 2 on the other side for the A/C bracket. Washer (spacer) (9779596) is used on all three studs. The Inline Tube stud is probably close (the one in your link).

Ahhh... I now see the kit I got did not have the proper "bolt-studs" used for the coil, alternator bracker and A/C bracket.

Ok here is the deal. No one sells a proper stud/bolt kit for 455HO intake manifolds. Not enough studs and/or bolt-studs.

And actually the photo shown in the inline tube link is incorrect as those stud-bolts shown are really just studs with a washer under the 'nut' on the stud. They are not shouldered like oem.

AMK sells the right "bolt-stud" at a whopping $12 each. Do it once, do it right. Ha.
