Need to polish out that intake box :P
Looks great...you do all your own welding and stuff ?
Turbo we are getting ready to do an altered version of your exhaust manifolds...Im determined to keep the pwr steering pump in stock location...so inner fenders are coming out and turbo on driver and pass sides will hang out to the sides.
Oh btw where did you get the water pump and crank pulleys for that serp belt?

Yup, I do my own welding and stuff. I bought a TIG and a used Bridgeport a few years ago, two of the best investments I've ever made.

The pulleys are from a 5.0 Liter Ford Crown Vic. I bored out the lower pulley and drilled my balancer for the Ford bolt pattern. The water pump pulley had a 2" hole in it, I welded a piece of steel plate in the hole and drilled it to fit the Pontiac water pump. That's a GM CS140 alternator that puts out about 90 amps at idle which is necessary for my cooling fans, fuel pumps, intercooler pump, and fuel injectinon.

Here's a pic that shows my KRC power steering pump on the lower passenger side of the engine. Moving the power steering pump was not a very big deal.

If you think my intake plenum is ugly just wait and see how your engine looks with a big old nasty GM power steering pump up in front! :0

Again, I'm interested in how you get this beast to pass the emissions test in your state...or does your state not test back to 1980?

I am interested in the bracket configuration for the Kre Power Steering pump/ bracket on
the passenger side if you would share it with me.

Thanks.

Thanks for putting up the dyno sheet. Not only are you making big power, but the numbers just go almost flat line. Your car must be a animal to drive.
Could you tell me the RPM where you stopped the dyno pull? The reason I ask is I need to pick out a turbo cam soon, and I was wondering how high you were running your 236 duration cam.
Thanks
Oh and the a/f is sweet

The Waste Gates will cause the power to truncate and create the flat line on the power curve
as the boost level is maintained.

Brian, my car is too old to require emission check in my state.

Tom - I wish I had some better pictures of the power steering pump bracket, this is all I have. It's just a piece of 1/4" steel plate that bolts to the two timing chain cover bolts on the passenger side of the engine. I ran a brace back to one of the motor mount bolts in the block and reinforced the plate with a rib. I have slotted holes in the plate for the pump to slide away from the engine block. It doesn't swing like a normal bracket, it just slides. The lower radiator hose is a tight fit. The bracket requires a small diameter aftermarket balancer so that you can get to the bolts. I hope this helps your turbo kit, when did you say it would be available?

69v8tr6 - That pull stopped around 5500 rpm. I have the rev limiter set at 6200, and it pulls hard all the way there. My cam is 234 degrees at .050" It's custom ground by Comp Cams I can find the part number if you want it.

Beautiful work.
What gears, weight and MPH did the car run at 600 RWHP? 600 HP on motor should have you in 10's with gearing/chasis. Must be very streetable.

3.54:1 Gears, 28" tires

4,020 pounds (What a pig!)

130 mph

Next time will be at 3,800 pounds and 730 rwhp.

That would explain it! You'll probably have the radio and A/C on as your dipping into the 9's.

How much timing are you running?

At what rpm do you hit 18psi?

110 octane is a lot for 18 psi and 8:2:1 compression. I am sure you are just making sure it does not knock but a good alky kit will allow you to run that psi on 93 pump no problem. http://www.alkycontrol.com has many GN's with 8:1:1 compression around 23psi on 93oct and straight methanol. It makes the power tour trips easy as you can stop off at any gas station and still be set on kill.

Killer set up, I am jealous

As soon as I hit the gas the engine goes to about 5000 rpm. That's with a custom made converter that's supposed to stall at 3500 rpm. I see boost just about immediately.

I'd have to check to make sure but total timing at 18 psi boost is about 24 degrees.

Check my pic at the top of this page, I have my own water/alky injection system. I did not use it for this dyno run. I have used it on the street with about 650 rwhp.

I used 110 octane because it was what I could get. I was planning on more boost but that was all I could get with my wastegate control. I'm using a 10 psi pressure regulator on the back side of the wastegates.

I'd love to use that boost on 93 octane, it will take a little more experimentation.

My next dyno runs will be with more boost, I should be able to get 22 psi with my turbos.

What do the GN guys run for fuel without methanol at that boost level, and how much timing?

Thanks

Looks great. As far as fuel and turbo's goes, talk to this guy, he lives on the NH/MA border and has had some very quick turbo/SC cars.

Thanks, I think I have some good ideas now for the power steering bracket I could use with the
Vortech Race kit I am putting together.

The Vortech people are doing the street kit for the A/C, P/S, Water Pump, guys.

I did a prototype kit for the Race guys (driver's side blower) that has been posted on the board
and was shown at Norwalk last year.

I might try and get the IA-2 guys to make me some P/S brackets that mount with 4 bolts like their front engine plate does but with the mounting arrangement for the P/S pump.

Thanks again.

Tom V.

My bad, did not read about the water injection.

Most GN's running pump gas usually run 18 degrees of timing and around 16psi on 93 octane. With alky and pump gas we also keep the timing low to run more boost ( boost makes more power ) to around 23psi with straight meth and 18 degrees of timing.

Now with twin turbos and a huge motor like yours I bet 1 psi is around 25hp. If you drop the timing down 6 degrees and got 3psi more you would gain 75hp. No way 6 degrees is going to make you 75hp.

On pump gas and water injection I would bet you could run around 20psi with 18 degrees of timing and lay more hp to the wheels than you did with 18psi and 24 degrees.

Any thoughts on making your setup for others to purchase?

I found a local shop that said for $7k they would make me just the headers, downpipes, and include the turbos and intercooler.

GOAT8U2,

Thanks for the info. I was expecting about 80 hp from 3 psi more boost, I'd say we're in agreement on that one. That's more timing than I have been running on pump gas, but I haven't tried to bump it up yet.

More hp on pump gas would be incredible. If I could just make the tires stick on the street...

As far as making a kit goes, I'm not planning on doing it. I've offered to build my exhaust manifolds and I keep hearing that they're too expensive. It also seems that everyone wants to run A/C with their twin turbos, there's not a lot of room left with my setup. Lastly, downpipes, custom radiator support, custom motor mounts, custom oil pan (with turbo oil drains), custom p/s pump, custom alternator bracket, custom intercooler, and all the plumbing cost money. If someone really wants a twin turbo setup, I would be happy to build them a copy of mine but it would be expensive.

Thanks again for the info.
