Nice site though, looks worth keeping.

Yeah, looks like it may not fit perfectly, but perhaps could be made to work somehow? And yes, I didnt even realise the other links on that site cover much of the same things being brought up in this thread. Those windstar fans look like a nice size and fit for an A body radiator. Grand Cherokee steering gear swap..etc etc.

Yep. You can find a lot of good useable info if you check out Chevelle sites. Problem is that some of it isn't applicable to the GTOs. Like rear end stuff. Unless you are running a C-clip rear already.

I have already gotten a Lincoln MKVIII fan. This thing fits perfectly on the universal radiator I have. Would probably need trimming for a stock A body, but from my time in the Mustang world these are supposedly the best fans around.

And I plan on doing that Grand Cherokee steering swap if I can find one that I can afford. Already have a CS130 alternator as well. Haven't gotten around to actually putting it on the engine though. Working on a serpentine belt system.

According to B-man, the 70-81 F body front sway bars are a perfect fit for our cars, and they have a 1.25 inch diameter one on the T/As. The larger but hollow WS6 one would be ideal weight wise, but I can't afford to be the one to do the experiment.

Well, I have one on my 85 Cutlass sitting right next to my 70 GTO in my garage, I guess if I was bored enough I could go and drop it out and try the swap...Im not that bored lately though lol. We'll see what happens I can say that my Cutlass has very little body roll with that thing, but it also has stiff front springs and wider tires up front so it isnt all the sway bar.

[QUOTE=russosborne;4627048]is this really true? 64-77? Or did you mean 74-77?

Yes, it's true, except for the 3rd gen F-body. I meant 2nd gen there. Sorry for the confusion.

Well, what do you know: my friend Joe Whiles copied my old Car Craft Tech Tips page on brake boosters from many years ago: http://www.geocities.ws/diels12000/Booster.html

It details how to make 80's G-body boosters fit 64-72 A-bodies and 67-69 F-bodies and 68-74 F-bodies.

And here's that powermaster installed in my 66 GTO, as shown in the old Car Craft mag:

I had never heard of that either.

Sorry I have a second gen front sway bar. NOT hollow.

Bigger, Better Bar
Did you know that the baseball bat-sized, 1.25-inch Second-Gen T/A front swaybar is a bolt-in replacement for a '64-'72 A-body bar (0.93-inch, '64-'67; 1.00-inch, '68-'69; 1.125-inch, '70-'72)? The T/A bar will increase front roll stiffness significantly. We've seen them at swap meets for $25-$50.

Ok, that makes more sense. Thanks for the pics. Wow, I need to keep an eye out for one of them now too.

Sorry I have a second gen front sway bar. NOT hollow.
You're mixing generations. No hollow bars in the second, but the third did have some.

I found one in the U-Pull yard by me last week in a Chevy Venture with rear AC. 26 bucks, tore it down and blasted and painted it up with a "Pontiac Special" blue accent Still not sure if I am going to swap the pulley or head back to buy more pulleys and try the serpentine conversion as well.

Yeah, I saw that thread and that is what I was referring to. Maybe I will save this alt for that conversion down the road and just put my cs130 back on for getting the car up and running again. Guess it all depends how lucky I get at the junkyard

Reliable parts. That's me goal.

Here's a simple gift:
Radiator and heater hose clamps from Lincoln Town Cars make for BETTER clamps than the Ideal screw clamps.
Get em.

I have one of those hollow 3rd Gen WS6 front sway bars. It might work on A 64-72 A body, you would need to drill some holes in the frame for the clamps. A 3rd Gen Z28 sway bar is solid and will work on a 78-87 A-G body. Some Olds 78-87 G body cars used a rear sway that is exactly the same as what came on 1970-72 GTOs

Arrow P/steering cooler...

Found this part on Ebay and it's off of a '03 Camaro. It's an inline p/steering cooler that is intended to mount in a radiator hose, getting the p/s fluid up to coolant temp and maintaining it there providing consistency in the steering 'feel'. The hose barbs were only 1.25" so I cut the barbs off of the nipples and had my machinist make me a couple of push on bushings to shim them to 1.50 OD and then I slid them on with a film of Loctite and installed one in the top radiator hose of the GP and the TA.

Thats an interesting PS cooler. I bet it gets questions when people see it.

On a side note I customized my alternator bracket to use the cs144 alternator and made a post about it if anyone may be interested that uses 1971+ style alt bracket and also swapped to a v belt pulley so I can use this alt right away, link below:

That is good work on that bracket. Makes me wish I had that style.
I need to get back to working on mine. I have a CS130 from a Cadillac. Haven't even taken it out of the box it was shipped to me a year ago yet. Heck, I haven't even opened it yet. It could be a brick for all I know.
