Fuel fragrances
Is it me? Because I just don’t get the whole idea of fuel fragrance additives. I see them advertised on the speed shop websites and wonder if anybody actually buys it? It can’t be a good thing to put in a fuel tank...

What are you talking about? Sounds like something miata drivers might be into.

I remember back in the 90's there were a couple of dragsters running alchohol at my local track,, they were using the fuel fragrance additive. I had to ask because the exhaust smell was very different.

Methanol smells great by itself, love to watch a sprint car race with the sweet smell of methanol wafting into the stands...............

Great way to get back at your boss. I dumped a bunch of that "marijuana" fragrance in his tank and when a cop got behind him, well.........
Swears he wasn't smoking anything. |

Most state not compatible with converters, but otherwise there are no serious side effects.
They do make cat safe scents too. Lot's of people use it when cruising, and it can cover up a rich idle. .

Makes as much sense as putting a chrome fuel cover door on your pickup truck.

Now what is wrong with a chrome fuel door on a pick up, or jacking up the front end and letting the back end get real low on your 4-wheel drive with big mudders hanging 1-foot out past the wheel well openings?

Got Bowling tonight. Hope to use the Grape scented ball. The Bluberry ball and Lime coconut scented ball leave an occasional split.

For methanol I used top lube for the alcohol. Usually got the scented lube.
Groovy Grape or sometimes the watermelon fragrance. Not sure why you would use fragrance for gasoline though?

That's easy, someone that's cheating in a class that allows only gasoline. Lots of the lower hobby oval track classes don't allow methanol. Anyone that can smell it while a car is idling, will know it's running methanol. Causing a fuel test, and a disqualification.

I was thinking of buying one. My Firebird has seemed a little more feumish in the cabin lately. I was going to buy one of those and see if the feum smell changed to the flavor. That would tell me its fuel vapor and give me a leg up in finding an issue.

Understood about the rich idle. When I was mixing 5 gallons or more of 110 leaded race gas into every tank of unleaded in my wagon, I remember waiting for a long traffic light to change, glancing in my rear view only to see an elderly couple behind me both holding their noses until the light changed. I actually considered putting some cats on, but... NAH Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'm with you on this one. In my book, anybody who criticizes the MX-5/Miata is just outing themselves as being ignorant to one of the most fun driving experiences you can have on four wheels. It's one of the best road cars ever made, and it continues that tradition to this day with the ND.

Agreed, Miatas are like driving a street legal go-cart. So much fun, the noisy, harsh ride was the classic sport car experience. It reminded me of a ‘76 Cosworth Vega I had in as much that they both handled amazingly well and they really rolled once you got the rpms up, but low end torque was nearly non-existent. Funny, I never got teased for driving the Cosworth, but I caught plenty of **** from my car buddies for driving a Miata. The easy fix for that was letting them drive it for 10 minutes. After the test drive it was all “I GOTTA GET ONE OF THESE!” Lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Yup there's a fragrance for everybody. If you have small children there's a baby powder fragrance,or no kids cause she left--there's ex-girlfriend fragrance.
