I can't remember if I read it here or on SD's website. Well before the fire, Dave stopped porting the stock heads. Too labour intensive and time consuming because of the cast iron.

Nearly all the 4340 rods I have seen that were sold by Ace were “H” beams, but I do recall RPM International ( Ace’s source) did sell an “ultra light” 4340 “I” beam rod.

Did you verify your timing mark is accurate?

Before you do anything else, make sure that the mark actually indicates TDC.

It's REALLY common for the outer ring to slip on older, original balancers.
