The top one looks like a Holset turbo. Some of them are capable of supporting 800HP. Definately check out Turbomustangs.com. I got a lot of ideas for my turbo stuff from those guys.

I would use them. I used them in a 400 that I built back in '86. They still look fine and the engine is still running FWIW.
