Sounds slick. My 69 bird has the “1-2-3” on the right of the bezel and the shifter handle is spring loaded allowing it to be used similar to a dual gates but the bezel has a single style..

The easiest way to do this is to connect 12V battery voltage to the HEI via a SPST relay. Use the factory coil (+) wire to trigger the relay.

As long as it’s a reputable Pontiac builder, and not some unknown from the FB, it should be ok for your application but I would definitely ask for the upgrade and a good builder will have no issue...
