Maybe I need to put a short tail TH400 in my '66 GTO. How can I tell the difference between a short or long shaft when rumaging around the salvage yard? Please be specific as I am new to this....

What causes the valve clearance issue when boring to .090 over? Or is it the use of the 400-.030 pistons?

I want to keep the 389 heads - They are ported and built.

I have a 389 ('66 GTO) that needs cylinder boring to clean it up, but it is at .060 over already. Can I safely go bigger? Will I need custom made (expensive) pistons for this?

This is exactly the kind of input I was looking for. I'm thinking while I'm at it, I should use pistons that allow me to reduce compression so it will run better on pump gas. Would 9.5/1...
