Power wire

There may be something to that.
I run power straight from fuse box to HEI cap.
Wire is oversized and soldered ends for longevity.

PI HEI

This is odd. Using PI HEI for a few months and had no tach issues.
Using GM HEI for years and then went PI.
My tach is a NOS replacement as original was bad.
Used same tach connection on both...

Had good luck with Superstats years ago.
Been doing NOS ones off eBay and very impressed.
Years ago picked up a NOS AC Delco 170 for a corvette.

Idle adjustment

So I should set 550rpm column up to 650.
And add a few degrees to both 650 and 750 column?

Beautiful day a tuning

Sunday was a beautiful day. Was able to do more fine tweaking.
After a nice highway run adjusted idle rpm on carb and now
she idles at 650rpm in gear, like butter.
Curb idle rises to 725ish when...

Modulator

Agreed with two O rings I would say the valve would then think modulator is retracted
Farther into the body of modulator then it really is. That would mean early and softer shifts.

Yeah they are garage art. Just wondering what applications were.
Tested and all hold vacuum. Just one seems to take more to activate
And when dumping vacuum. It really thuds back to rest position....

Thanks for the feedback. Yes I wanted a safe curve as a baseline that was similar
to the curve in my HEI. My car likes a slower curve and dead stable timing in gear.

Been 12 or so years with melling cam 068 and crower cam saver lifters.
So far so good. Using VR1 10w30 oil.

I think I have run every type and temp rated stat there is.
Humbly found my car like NOS AC Delco 170 degree stat.
It does have a small notch to bleed out air when refilling
system.

Agreed i also bought my 11 bolt from our host. no issues 8 years ago right after my
firebird was painted!!!! was real carefull changing that pump.
they had correct height pump with nice cast...

bad stat

when i did my camswap some years ago i used a gutted thermostat for breakin.
temp was under 150 for whole breakin and then after cooldown took her for a nice
ride and temp stayed 160ish. Drove it...

Staying cool

Pic was taken on return from 45 minute run this morning.
Very hot & humid today. Driving at 30 mph
with rpm’s at 1200ish. Just loping along.

Honestly Amazon is where I usually get it from.
30-35 for a jug delivered.
I do support local Napa for filters and such since
I can get Baldwin thru them.
