Well, it looks like when I asked him to check and got the word yes, it meant I didnt look at all. Now it might be a TH200. Other than the tranny not holding up to 99 more cubic inches and the associated hp and tq, will it bolt up???

Thanks!!

Dave

Yes, it will bolt up. You will have to hook up the TV cable to get it to work properly. Good luck.

Or what?? It is a TH200. AS there is no vacuum modulator.

Actually this is going rather well.. A few setbacks, but not bad. The starter for the 301 will start a 301 and that is it. Upgraded to a regular 400 starter. Should have it running tomorrow...

Thanks again!!!

Dave

The TV cable on the TH200 should move about 1 and 1/8th inch from wide open throttle back to idle. It should be pulled out all the way at full throttle. Using the setup on the 301 as a guide should put you in the right ballpark. The TV (throttle valve)cable combines the functions of the Vacuum modulator and the downshift in one valve assembly.

Groovy!!

Well we tried to get the car running today. No dice. We had it running for a minute or so at 2000 rpms good oil pressure etc.. But I tried to check the timing and it died. Now I was so burned out from trying to get everythng ready, I might be over looking something, but I checked the firing order 10 times and tried the 180* out route as well.

BUT, the carb (Edelbrock 1405) has spit fuel out of the top no matter what, even when it WAS running. So I think that might be an issue as well. Might be flooding it...

Any ideas?

Likely a sticking float. Try tapping on the side of the carb. If that doesn't work, you may have to disassemble it.

Yeah, thats what it sounds like. The crappy thing is it makes you chase your tale for the 180* out timing thing. I think the engine is just badly flooded. Ill try the float. I guess even brand new carbs have issues!!!

Could be something from the line suck in the seat too..
