In anticipation of the road trip to Norwalk, we put new tires on the truck, new tires on the trailer and ordered new slicks for the car. However, due to ongoing issues with our "boutique" pieces, the motor is still not together.
As a result, for the second year in a row, we will not make Norwalk. Needless to say, I am seething and frustrated at finding myself in this position - again. Just trying to keep a lid on it. Anyway, good luck to all you guys. Have fun. DF Note: Did a post-dyno tear down and inspection on the 475 motor w/CV-1's. Just not enough time to put it back together, get it in the car, do track testing and nitrous tuning before Norwalk. |

If someone can run 6s (Marty P) with a cast iron 62 Traditional Pontiac Head, I would hope that you could break into the 7s with a CV-1 Head with boost.

O.K.....Thanks for proving my point. John (post #110) and yourself (post #111) have both stated that YOU, YOURSELVES could make this a viable head that all of the pisser (including yourselves) could admire. All it will take is time (remember the timeframe thing), money and the will and ability to do so. That's all I need to confirm. NOW I feel a whole lot better about all of this bickering...or should I say mindless drivel that 2 professionals have put to rest. Thank You to all who participated in my experiment.

You can put a "race horse" Saddle and Blanket on a Mule, but will the Mule ever win the Kentucky Derby? (No matter what Owner, Trainer, Rider, works with the Mule.)
Now the owner might make a lot of money taking it to the State Fair Races and racing against horses that were just plain slow (so the crowd could cheer) but the owner has an ulterior motive there, making money, not winning the Kentucky Derby race. Just Saying, When you have money to spend, you can make anything go down the track. Do not see Marcella or Leech spending THEIR money in that venue or doing the job without getting paid for their knowledge. Tom Vaught

John M has worked for several Race Shops in the Detroit Area over the years, so at each shop he acquired knowledge and skills. Now he can do a lot of the work himself: Porting work, welding, fabrication, trades with others who have different skills. He LEVERAGES his talents with others. Smart man.
But can the average guy get the same results for the same money? Probably not. So yes, John can say that he has little money in his race deal but I would say he has a lot of "Blood and Sweat Equity" in his race deal. Just look at his LSM block lightening deal and price that one operation at LSM. Tom Vaught

Anyone that would turn down help from Gaby or John isn't looking at the bigger picture.
