If I remember correctly, Kaase's 507 torque curve did not drop below 700 ft lbs. from 3700-6300 rpm. He told me the engine actually made over 850 HP on pump gas. If you could hook that thing up in a street car. It would tear it in half LOL.

Chris Uratchko, short of making a Jon Kasse remake, how might someone go about making a 92-93 REAL pump gas, street/strip engine that many people may build without highly specialized parts? Say the Hp target is 800 to 850hp in an rpm range more like 6500-7500, which be driven on the street and later raced the same day. From this baseline engine package design many could then step up to 850-900 to 900-950 to 950 to 1000 hp. Each step in a NA engine may require stretching the minds of some people to do it. I really think it will be VERY GOOD for this Pontiac community, as our Passion is the love of Pontiacs, and the desire to drive them, race them, and show them off.

I am curious, as the theme to acheive Hp to get to 1000 hp or more, is to build a bigger engine, then why have so very many people shy away from the 4.75 strokes and 565-571 ci.??? Is there an issue in the geometry of stroke in the bottom of the bore in the aftermarket blocks and how it relates to the wrist pin? From the engine builders out there, please give your input. Otherwise many more may people may want to step up if the safety/longevity is not and issue. I know some people have built the 4.75 stroke large inch engines, is it worth it??

Definitely smarter to use more cubes, but it will still need to make around 1.9 HP per cube. Hard to believe just a few years ago if someone made anywhere close to 2 HP on race gas they were the King. Now we are talking about making that with pump piss LOL. Pontiac's are alive and going strong!!!! I love it!!!!

Chris, Why did you choose the pro port and not a Tiger or high port? Not trying to put you on the spot, just curious. If your using John M's pro ports and tweaking them a little, that makes perfect sense.

Well, on the heads I like the over all design of what we can do in the pro port. It's a more modern design in my opinion.
My customer purchased a set of Pro Ports raw and we were going to do the whole deal from scratch and then Marcella wanted to sell his engine. So we bought Marcellas engine, with no rotating assembly or intake manifold, and we're attacking it from that angle. John has a lot of work in the heads that would take a lot of man hours to duplicate, and it's all top shelf quality parts inside and outside the engine. So we get a good foundation to build on. |

Chris, I am curious, what true static compression would you build a 92-93 octane true pump gas at with a carb. or multipart EFI?? Knowing the engine would be at least 540ci. and have some stroke in it. Also how radical would the cam duration and NET LIFT be to achieve the 1000hp mark? Lastly, how much smaller could the cam be to be a 800-850hp street/strip 92-93 octane pump gas, 540ci. or larger engine?? Example would the NET LIFT and or the cam durations change greatly from the 1000hp engine? Thanks in advance for your response.
