The convertible top bows moved slow until the pump was bled and filled per the 63 Body Shop Manual. It has been 3 years of body work, paint, engine overhaul, and assembly, but it is finally getting close to being finished. The Fat Mat insulation, interior, and exhaust system are left to do. Should be able to take it this summer for the first drive since 1990.

Default c5

John
Yes, the c5farmer tag comes from having a 1998 C5 corvette and growing up/working in agriculture. The convertible has the stock transaxle and uses the original automatic console shifter. Thanks for the nice comment about the car.

What rim and tires are you running?

Default Frost King did a great job

In looking for a good product to insulate the floor I read on a forum to use Frost King duct insulation. The pros and cons of this product made me try it. Since the car had nothing under the carpet before (except what was left from 1963) I should notice a more quiet ride. But being a convertible who knows.

I used 2 packages (15' rolls) of Frost King, one package of their pipe wrap tape and half a roll of 3M metal repair tape. All together my cost was under $60 in materials.
I think it came out great!

Default insulation

Looks good and the cost is about half of what I spent putting "Fat Mat" on my car's floor and doors. Thanks for the cost saving tip.

Here's a picture of my '63 Tempest race car with the blower conversion complete. It's been fired, just waiting for cooler weather to take it down the track. The conversion is documented here:

The carb and/or the intake? I am keeping that engine together, have a few single plane intakes around.

Just the carb, already have a freshly painted manifold. I actually have 2 4bbl's, one that I'm rebuilding and will use on my '62 Tempest automatic and another just for spare parts, some of which are missing. But the one I'm putting on came off a manual-shift Tempest and the other is like the one you got, for the automatic with that vacuum fitting between the 2 mixture screws and I'm switching the base from the spare carb onto the other's air horn that I'll be using and because it's missing the vacuum fitting and it's just got the hole there, I made a vacuum fitting with some brass parts and run a hose from that to the hardline...there was a 1bbl in it before that I pulled out to 4bbl it. But didn't know if you wanted to get rid of your carb or not and it looks complete, so just figured I'd ask. Do you have any spare parts for it, such as the throttle spring bracket (or at least have a pic of it so I can make one) that mounts onto the carb base and do you have a close up shot of the side where the linkage is at?

From what the shop manual shows, the kickdown linkage for this carb is different from the one for the 1bbl and wanted to see what yours looks like to see if I can make one or even use the same 1 bbl linkage and the kind of stud it uses, since my carb doesn't have that. This would really help. Have asked this around PY forums, but so far, no answers. Thanks

Default 3 years of work

We have been restoring this Lemans for 3 years and I have been posting the progress over the years. It has required many hours and dollars, but the car is finally looking like a car again! The "Fat Mat" insulation is done on the floor and the trunk mat is installed. The carpet and interior is next, followed by the exhaust system. I ordered an OEM replacement dual exhaust system from Classic Car Exhaust Ssytems in Ohio. It will be the last installment before driving the car. All the work, except the body and paint, was done in our garage. The car is a 326 (now 350) automatic with Power steering and power brakes.
