I painted my header collector/exhaust nuts and bolts orange so I could find them in the grass at the drag strip after dropping them. K

Over the years this motor was painted all sorts of colours but the metallic blue is definitely on there to stay now! Man it really pops with the aluminium around it!

No more than I would for maligning someone for going with aftermarket heads, intake, and rotating assembly. Let's be honest. Who here really prefers the pontiac timing cover & water pump design over the chevy?

Thanks
I picked them up with the matching air cleaner from pacific performance and painted them myself they are cast and fit well and are tall enough for my roller rockers to fit. I like the old school look

468 bottom end is done. REALLY leaning towards the 287 blue.... But the green might still win. Im torn. I also might have to put full length headers on the thing so that might make the color option different...

The later Pontiac Blue does a great job of showing oil dripping past your valve cover seal

My engine builder knew I didnt want Pontiac Blue, but said trust him.. He came up with this. Its been in the car for awhile and I have around 1300 miles on the car. Runs great!!! I love it!!

I paint an engine what ever color they are supposed to be. It's what I prefer being more of a purist restoration geek, so seeing anything different looks odd to me. I was at the local cruise recently, Pontiac night. A long row of Pontiacs parked together and heard one guy commenting "why is everyone here painting these engines blue?" Hahaha, he didn't look old enough to know Pontiacs (engines were extinct before he was born) so he likely didn't understand that was the factory color.
I can understand someone like that though, looking at a black Pontiac, or a green Pontiac, and seeing that blue engine for the first time might look out of place, lol. |

So he painted it the color you said you didn't want? Makes sense to me. Or am I missing something? He should have put a second coat on it.
