This one has the lowest VIN of any I've ever seen. Base Bird, built 12C 1969. Same week as the other low VIN cars I've seen, so that must have been the pilot production week.

I’m confused- what am I not seeing? I agree 10k is high, but I don’t know that I would say it’s out of this world high for a running and driving 70-73? It is pretty beat up but I would think 5k would be light?

This one is # 223870N600035 Both these early cars are 6 cylinder cars. ( based on the Core support in the Ebay car) Car 00035 still retains its original driveline, and metal tail panel.

The bold number one just to the right of the "N" denotes the car was born an eight cylinder.

Wish people would stop calling everything a clone, especially when clearly not. Sure, it has one or two features that were found on a TA, hooray. You don't call a TA with plain hood an Esprit clone, it's a TA that is still in search of a replacement hood, or whatever. It's not a selling point, it's just a 50 year old vehicle with mismatched details. I'd have called it a Formula clone before a TA since the hood is more prominent than a few fender bits. Seen a lot worse get restored, or saved rather.

This '70 TA is on eBay right now. Norwood VIN sequence 100355; date code on trim tag is first week of January, 1970 (01A), although the car wasn't shipped until May 1970.

It's the earliest built '70 T/A I've seen from either plant. Has anyone seen an earlier '70 T/A VIN or Trim Tag date?

Many years ago (mid-1980s, I think), I parted out an early 1970 T/A. I don't remember what the cowl panel data plate showed.

It was an oddity. It had the pot metal tail panel, the trunk pan had small round drain plugs in addition to the oval ones, and the WS block did not have the VIN stamped into it. Cast dates were late 1969. I ran the VIN and got the build sheet, this was back before PHS and Pontiac would send them to you for free. I also rememeber the PHS showing a 3 - 4 month difference between when it was built and when it shipped.

I have seen odd things before on a PHS. I found a rough 1969 GTO that the build sheet showed it was delivered to Pontiac engineering. The build sheet for this T/A didn't show anything to indicate where it might have been for those months. It was a 4-spd a/c car.

My buddy's 01C Norwood T/A has the WS4 on the tag. This one's the first Norwood car I've seen without it. This must have been a promo car. What is the 997 your referring too?
