Irish Mist paint
Hi!I am in the process of redoing a 65"Bonneville Coupe in factory Irish Mist"P" and starting to have a need for a small can to start with as i replaced one door.
In Sweden its hard to find anyone who can help to blend the correct colour so i thought i put a tread out here for help. Any help would be great. Thanks! /Hakan [email protected] |

Irish Mist? that's a new one...
 Do you have a local body shop or automotive paint supplier that can scan the car's paint and then do a custom mix from that? May be difficult to get a close match otherwise.

Might be Irish or Iris as first and Mist as second but as long we know its fine,anyhow i have no parts that has so good/fresh paint so i can bring it in to scan,and the scanner is not portable so we could take it out either,in the"worst"case i might hire one skirt from a friend in south w correct colour and bring in.

If you call the PPG color library - 800-647-6050 - and ask them to do a profit scan on the original chip - they can fax or e-mail you or your paint supplier the formula in the type of system you want - base/clear - single stage - lacquer, etc.. Don't just ask for a formula, as it may only be a "best match", make sure to ask for a profit scan of the chip.
This will be as close as you can get to the original color, but may not match what you have, unless you repaint the whole car. Dave B.

Iris mist is the correct spelling. I have it on my 65 Cat Convert. Somehow mine came out a little more purpulish that any other one I have seen but I love it.

Dupont has the right mix.
4637 L from the 65 chip book I just had some mixed.

I know Mike is taking care of you but for future use this is a neat tool.
Here is online tool that a member posted for PPG paint codes/others if they can be crossed. You have to select year and make, then fill in paint code upper right....easy to use. Sells Qts as well. Thanks for the post and links,i have a set of Pontiacs but always wanted a 1965 in"P"colour,i could repaint another one P but to me it must be factory in this colour.
Im happy to be able to have friends in US and be able to buy the parts,cars that i need. This Bonny i bought was a 1 owner car in NJ,in medium shape outside but a nearly perfect inside. So now i have the car,and a 65"CA GP will leave fenders,1 door and this is why i in first step need some paint to start with to do inside doors and fenders. I couldnt find another one so it was just to buy this one even if i would like a more solid start to save time. |
