Are the little plastic retainers necessary when installing a new Oil Pan gasket on a 326 Motor ?

oil pump pick up screen tube

I pull oil pan off of my 66 326 motor. Pick up screen tube has been Brazed to pump body should I be alarmed ?

Well 67 Assembly Manual came in mail other day.
50% of text is unreadable.

I am in the process of restoring my 66 lemans from ground up. It began 9/2012. I failed to take photo's and document bolts, screws and clips locations. Everything got thrown into moving boxes and...
