The reason they probably used lower octane in the 60's was because it was leaded gas which helped boost the octane and prevent detonation. Todays gas is unleaded.

I'd also think about losing those rear gears if you drive it a lot. I wouldn't go any lower than a 3:42 gear for daily use. If I were you I would swap those gears for a higher 3:23 or 3:42 gear ratio.

Wow! I like it! Love the front end and other body work. It does look like a 94-98 Mustang on the sides but that's ok. If this is the direction they are going, I would definately buy one in 3-4 yrs...
